An Energized Success in Sierra Leone

We made the news in Sierra Leone in October 2016 when President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma welcomed the Executive Vice- President of Khatib and Alami Consolidated Engineering Company, Mr. Faisal Alami and the K&A delegation to the State House in Freetown.

We are the winners of the highly competitive World Bank bid for the improvement of Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) networks in the Western Area of Sierra Leone and its surroundings.

This means we’ll be working with The Ministry of Energy and the incoming management of EDSA for the next three years to make this extremely important energy project a success. President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma stressed how vital this project is for the country’s growth: “Access to reliable and affordable energy is critical in stimulating the economy given its multiplier effects in generating economic activities in other sectors.

Without energy there will be no transformation.” President Koroma told Mr. Alami that K&A would have the government’s full cooperation. In turn Mr. Alami highlighted K&A’s excitement at this opportunity and confidence in delivering improved energy to the country.

As the selected performance- based contractor, we met all the World Bank’s strict criteria. Assuming the role of the Management Contractor, we will be making sure that the management of EDSA is turned over to a professional local team once we have finished our work. This includes our equipping the team with the know-how and skills needed to efficiently run EDSA and to continue to improve performance and service.
